Neil Lerner at FSU

Later this month, we will welcome Dr. Neil Lerner, Professor at Davidson College, for our annual lecture series. The series is sponsored by the Society for Musicology and the Congress of Graduate Students. Dr. Lerner’s lecture is titled “Mario’s Dynamic Leaps: Musical Innovations and Backwards Glances in Donkey Kong and Super Mario Bros.” Come learn about music and video games on Monday, October 14 at 7pm in Longmire Recital Hall, with a reception to follow. FSU Ligeti Symposium and Festival

In addition to the great events featuring musician Tim Eriksen this week, the College of Music is also hosting a Ligeti Symposium and Festival honoring composer György Ligeti!

The Symposium and Festival will feature paper presentations, lecture recitals, master classes, poster sessions, and performances from Thursday through Saturday (October 10–12). The evening performances will feature various Ligeti works. The Friday evening concert will include music that influenced the composer, featuring FSU Early Music and World Music Ensembles and performers. Tim Eriksen at FSU

This Wednesday and Thursday (October 9-10) American fiddler and musicologist Tim Eriksen will be performing and speaking on campus. Check out the exciting events below! His visit is sponsored by the FSU Institute for Research on Performance in Context (IfRoPiC), the College of Music, Tallahassee Sacred Harp, and the Society for Musicology.
